Northwest Tennessee is an area prone to tornadoes. We’ve talked about tornadoes before, but we want to cover a few of the more basic tips that we often overlook but could be extremely helpful during a tornado.

• Tip #1: Check with local authorities and make sure you know where your storm shelters are. If you need more information on that be sure to check out our blog online and we’ll post information on how to find the closest storm shelter to you.
• Tip #2: Crouch down, protect your head and wear a helmet if you have one.
• Tip #3: Get somewhere safe if you are not in a safe area after the storm passes.
• BONUS TIP: Candles can often start a fire, if the power goes out during a storm, you’re better off using flashlights.
